Where you'll stay

About

Your Home for the Residency
Charming and spacious, Mulgrave House offers six comfortable bedrooms, six full bathrooms, and a half bath — plenty of room for a group of residents to live and work alongside one another without feeling cramped. A generous living area, fully equipped kitchen, and large dining space give you room to cook, gather, and share ideas together when you're not in the studio

Mission

The Space

The heart of the house is a cosy living area with comfortable seating, a fireplace, and a TV — a good spot to unwind after a day's work, with a Bose speaker on hand for evenings together.

The kitchen is fully equipped for everything from quick studio-break snacks to proper home-cooked meals, with a dining space alongside for shared meals and conversation.

Each of the six bedrooms offers a comfortable bed and ample storage, designed as a quiet, welcoming retreat to retreat to at the end of the day.

The Setting

Mulgrave House sits in the village of Hinderwell, within the North York Moors National Park — a peaceful base with local pubs, cafés, and shops close by. Runswick Bay and Staithes, both known for their beaches and their pull on artists over the years, are just a short distance away, offering plenty of scope for coastal walks and time spent looking closely at the landscape.

Getting Around

Hinderwell has local bus links to Whitby and Saltburn, and a nearby railway station connects to Middlesbrough, Newcastle, and Sunderland for day trips further afield. For those driving, the property is well placed for exploring the wider coast and countryside, with free parking typically available nearby.
